India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri concluded a series ofhigh-level meetings in the United States, reinforcing the growing depth ofbilateral ties across defence, trade, and strategic regional issues. Thethree-day visit focused on accelerating cooperation and aligning priorities inan evolving global landscape.
During his engagements in Washington, Misri held discussionswith senior officials from the U.S. Departments of Defence and Commerce. Keymeetings included interactions with Under Secretaries Michael Duffey andElbridge Colby at the Department of Defence, as well as Jeffrey Kessler andWilliam Kimmitt at the Department of Commerce.
The talks emphasized strengthening defence collaboration,with both sides exploring avenues to enhance military interoperability,technology sharing, and defence production partnerships. These discussionsreflect the increasing importance of India–U.S. defence ties amid shiftinggeopolitical dynamics, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
Trade relations were another major focus of the visit.Officials reviewed ongoing economic cooperation and identified opportunities toexpand bilateral trade and investment. Efforts to reduce trade barriers andpromote supply chain resilience were highlighted as critical steps towardbuilding a more robust economic partnership.
In addition to bilateral matters, Misri and U.S. officialsexchanged views on key regional developments.
